Pho Balham

This evening, Ali, Greig and I went out for Vietnamese food at Pho. Very impromptu, i’m genuinely wearing pyjama bottoms, but they’re black so I think i’m pulling them off as joggers (who knows?)

Ali is a forensic scientist who often contributes to the ‘Silent Witness’ scripts. He is also a scalextrics enthusiast.

First of all: Rosie, our waitress was FABULOUS! She was super helpful and told me what all the words I didn’t know meant. Definitely would have tipped if it wasn’t for the service charge AGAIN? What is it with mediocre restaurants charging for service – for a table of 3 – on a Thursday evening?!

Spring roll with literally everything

I cant remember what exactly was in this, but it was pretty delish. Definitely pork and prawns and some other bits too, not really a roll more; of a square parcel but i’m not too pedantic about shape tbh.

Was hoping for drunken noodles 😦

I keep saying that I want drunken noodles and no one ever knows what I mean – SOMEONE PLEASE confirm that they are a thing and that i’m not insane.

Either way these sounded pretty close so I got them. Flat rice noodles beef stir fry kind of thing. They were nice but nothing special.

You know that feeling when someone orders food thats better than yours? That utter heartbreak? Well I had that.

My overall rating: 6/10 – Ok food, ok prices for a walk in kind of situation but sadly nothing blew me away. I think my beef (if you’ll pardon the pun) is with my own meal choice. I’d probably eat there again but I wont rush back.

Ali’s overall rating: 6.5/10 – Quick and convenient, and tasty, although felt I could have achieved much the same end result for considerably less, so marks lost for value for money and lack of wow-factor

ALSO: come back on Sunday for fillet steak and a glass of Malbec all for £25! nom nom nom

FYI Pics

The bill – a little pricey (IMO)
